about

I used to sneak Psychology Today magazines underneath my textbooks to read during class in high school.

I’ve long had an interest in the way our mind, body and spirit work together.

Partly because I was troubled by my own complexities, but also because I’m really fascinated by the human experience.

I sought therapy for the first time as a freshman in college (bad experience), then again as a senior (good experience) and again after working for a few years post-grad (great experience) before deciding to pursue a career as a therapist myself.

Prior to being a therapist I worked as a health coach, a bartender, a technical support analyst, a jeweler-apprentice, and a few other things. I’ve done the corporate 9-to-5 and traversed the gig economy. All of these experiences helped to shape and lead me here.

At the core of my approach to therapy is the belief that we all have an innate drive towards healing & growth.

As a therapist, I view it as my goal to help you access that drive within you. It’s always been there and always will be, but sometimes we lose touch with it. Life is hard, oppressive systems are real, and we can internalize a lot of other peoples’ ideas about who we “should” be.

I’m very interested in detangling the impact of dominant culture values like patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism from family values and from personal values.

When I reflect on my own development, I see that detangling process as an imperative part of rebuilding trust in myself and my own healing process.

I think that a lot of our anxieties are born from harmful experiences that taught us to doubt ourselves, and from belief systems that we didn’t sign up for and don’t agree with.

I believe that we have the power to reject the beliefs that we don’t agree with instead of compulsively abiding them. Even while we’re subject to living within these systems, we can make choices that affirm our own and others’ freedom.

I believe there’s power in honing your particular values, desires, skills and wisdom in pursuit of a life that you actually want to live. I’d like to help you do that for yourself.
